Anaheim Ducks lost yesterday in Arizona and they are coming home to meet Edmonton Oilers. Ducks have very good recent record against Edmonton as they beat them in last 12 out of 16 meetings at home. But I am still not impressed with their game. Yes, they have couple of very good players, but they are also outplayed most of the time. In last 5 games they were outplayed by 13.6 shots per game in average, which is very bad.
If we take a look on their recent wins, they were playing very good defence and their first two goalies were amazing. We must agree, that with Miller and Gibson, they have very good first two goalies. Maybe the best pair of goalies.
But today they will not play neither with Gibson, who is injured and neither with Miller who will get a rest after yesterday’s game. They will start with Reto Berra, who doesn’t have enough games this season to make a final conclusion about him. He started only 1 game this season and only 4 games last season for Florida. If I said, that they are playing very good defence and if I said, that their first goalies are red hot (Miller SV 96.9% and Gibson 94.6% in their last 4 starts), this may be not the case today. Berra is still not Gibson or Miller.
Edmonton Oilers on the other have bad season. At least I expected much more from them. But right now, they found some momentum and they are playing good ice hockey. They won two straight games and 3 out of last four.
My projected odds are on Edmonton’s side and I will take Oilers here.
